Bali Bali Bali

Now I was super excited to visit Bali. We had originally planned for it to be our last stop of the trip before heading home. However, plans changed slightly, where we were worried about the weather in the Thailand islands. So we headed there first, agreeing to finish the rest of Thailand mainland at the end, after Bali. It made sense for us to head to Bali at the end of the Thailand islands as we were further down that way, so it didn’t make much difference.

We were toying between how long we should stay in Bali I know people who have stayed for 10 days and 2 weeks. We were thinking about 10 days but then we had other places we needed to fit in before heading home and before the money really ran out!

So we settled on 7 days and accidentally this was a big mistake.

There is sooooo much to see and do in Bali!

Before we went I had a list of things to do whilst there, but once arriving so many more activities and places came up that needed to be visited as well.

Luckily throughout our week stay, we managed to see pretty much everything that was a definite ‘we must see this time’! As well as a few afternoons relaxing by the pool, which was much needed. Travelling is amazing but it can be exhausting, so an afternoon spent relaxing around the pool is just what you need to regenerate that energy back.

We had day trips booked with early morning starts, trips to other towns, activities and site seeing in Bali with a whole lot of falling in love with the country!

I don’t know if it was because it’s nearing the end of our trip and we weren’t thinking but later on we realised we should have extended our stay in Bali to at least 10 days. Unfortunately, we had already booked our flights back to Thailand (because we’ve had trouble in the past with flights becoming more expensive the later you book). This is one of those times where I'm kicking myself that we couldn’t change the flight or that we didn’t have the flight booked back in the first place.

But that’s all part of the travelling adventure, you learn as you go. Sometimes you have places you wished you stayed in for longer and others where you wished you weren’t there as long. Instead of dwelling on it, I’m seeing it as a positive, a learning experience. Maybe in my next travel adventure, I won’t book the flights so in advance! And I’m super thankful that we even got the chance to go to Bali in the time frame and budget we had for this trip. There’s no doubt that I will definitely be going back to Bali as soon as I’ve earned some money back, next time staying for at least two weeks!

If anyone is thinking about heading to Bali I would definitely recommend staying for 2 weeks, even 3 if you can! The flight is a long one from the UK so you want to make the most of your time there. With so much to see, you really need to maximise your time as much as possible.

So what is there to do in Bali? I’ve written a list below outlining the main spots and attractions to visit whilst staying in this friendly, fun and paradise country.

Places to visit:

  • Seminyak beach and town

  • Canggu

  • Kuta

  • Boat ride Lembongan island

  • Uluwatu (high waves for surfing)

What to do:

  • Tegalalang rice fields

  • Monkey forest
