During my time at Cambridgeshire Live I would go out on patch to create Facebook Live videos, which were a great way to engage directly with our audience and report on various events around the area. I created numerous Facebook Live videos for our page, including news, taste tests, walks in and around Cambridgeshire, events and attractions.
Back in October 2021, I discovered that a circus was on in the area of March, Cambridgeshire, so I got in contact with Cortex Circus to see if I could visit for a Facebook Live video. I thought this would be a fun and entertaining video for our audience to enjoy, while sharing news that the circus was in town!
After arranging the details I headed to the circus to video some of their rehearsals and to meet some of their entertainers, having been given permission from the circus director.
I started the live video by introducing myself and explaining where I was before turning the camera round to record some parts of the show directly to our Cambridgeshire Live audience. Inbetween the different acts, I interviewed different members of staff and even tried my hand at some circus skills!
As it was a continuous live video, I ensured everything was set up and organised before pressing record, including questions for the interviewee’s and the order of events. Throughout the video I ensured I was engaging with the audience who were watching live, while maintaining energy and enthusiasm. It was important for me to do this so the audience were enticed to keep watching and felt engaged with what was going on. I would also answer any questions that came through from the viewers.
This was a light-hearted video that really engaged with our audience, while sharing news of a local event - the video received 3.3K views.
