I'm back!

I’ve been back from travelling for a year now. An entire year has come and gone since I was either sunning myself on a Thailand island, venturing around the busy streets of Vietnam, or driving up the East coast of Australia. I can’t quite believe how quick the last year has gone, but yet it also feels like a lifetime ago.

When I think back to what I’ve done since returning from travelling it has been amazing, I can’t deny that at all, being home really isn’t all that bad…

I was reunited with friends, (Some of whom surprised me at the airport on my arrival back to England along with a homemade banner… it’s safe to say I cried like a baby!). I later caught up with everyone else for lots of celebratory drinks, including my wonderful family. Went on our annual family camping trip to Wales, rapped away to Stormzy at Glastonbury, had a mini holiday in Cornwall, watched Matilda and the Lion King in theatre, enjoyed some Bristol gigs, went for some spa days, celebrated some special family birthdays, as well as a very special engagement for one of my best friends, and also had one of the most important events of the year… my sister’s wedding!

So, I’ve had a pretty fantastic year since returning from travelling!

Now, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I miss travelling, a lot. The lifestyle, the fun, the freedom, the adventure and of course the sun. But, if we could all spend our days on a beach or exploring a new destination abroad I think the majority of us would say yes and do it. But for now, this isn’t an option, 1. Because of money but 2. Because of a global pandemic that is currently happening whilst I write this.

Lockdown. It’s been a weird one, with plenty of mixed emotions. A moment of not believing what is currently happening in the world, along with incredible newfound gratitude for life.

Since the lockdown began I have tried to keep myself busy as much as possible, getting round to those jobs you just never usually make time for, or just never quite getting round to do, putting them at the bottom of the usual daily to-do list in normal circumstances of life. But, finally, I’ve been able to tick some jobs on that list! My website included… so welcome.

I wanted to write a quick blog to welcome myself back into my writing and publishing my blogs. Its been a year since I last posted, so before I jump straight back into it I also wanted to welcome back the few readers I may have (Thanks family and friends)!

So now, I finally managed to finish my website (yippee)! Ever since I began blogging whilst I was away I was determined to keep writing on my return, but for some reason, I just never got round to it fully. I had drafts and drafts of blogs in my notes, potential new titles and half-finished blogs, but just not a complete blog post… until now.

So, during this lockdown time, my top priority was to finish the website and pull my finger out and get round to writing my blogs again.

When I look back I really can’t say why I didn’t continue my blogs since returning from travelling, I absolutely love writing and enjoyed writing whilst I was away. I guess life can get in the way, the same excuses were made, ‘oh I’m too tired to write now’ or  ‘I don’t have the time’ and then before you know it, a few days, turns into weeks, turns into months and then a year has passed. So instead of wondering why I didn’t continue writing, I’m going to bring back my passion and pursue my love of writing again… so here I am.

As much as I don’t like lockdown and it is hugely worrying for everyone, I am grateful to have found this time to finish my website (I hope you like it) and start-up my writing again.

I mean, it really shouldn’t have taken a lockdown to get me to this stage, to write again, but it has so I can only be grateful for that. During this time I have refound my passion, flair and love of writing.

As mentioned on my website I will be continuing my blogs based around travel, including from past trips, future trips and local trips, but I will also be writing about everyday life, or what else may pop into my head!

So, from here, that concludes my first, quick blog since my last post a year ago. I have promised myself to keep writing and keep the passion alive, if it so happens one day I can turn my writing into a career for myself, than even better.

But for now, I hope you enjoy my light-hearted, and hopefully enjoyable blogs, during this extremely odd time for all.

Stay safe.
